Dr. Epstein also created a training program for pediatric neurosurgeons, which has resulted in a global network of physicians who successfully practice this highly-specialized discipline.
During his career, Dr. Epstein has served as president of the International Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery and president of the American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery, and he continues to serve as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Pediatric Neurosurgery. Beginning with the publication of his 1981 paper, "Surgical Management of Holocord' Intramedullary Spinal Cord Astrocytomas in Children," Dr. Epstein undertook and solved many problems relating to the neurosurgical treatment of spinal cord tumors, which had previously been deemed insurmountable. The INN at Beth Israel represents the fulfillment of a dream for Dr. Epstein, who has long championed patient care that meets the special needs of patients and family dealing with the most serious illnesses. Dr. Epstein resides in Greenwich, Connecticut with his wife, Kathy and children, Samara, Ilana, Jason, Joey and Benjamin.
